Don’t overthink the marketing:

Have fun & share the fun

  • Just Get Started

Getting started is the hardest part. Start simple: find a time & location to dance, grab your speaker, and invite just one or two friends to join you! Think of this not as a dork dancing event, but a dork dancing experience. Have fun playing with the idea first before making any kind of public invitation.

  • Document the Journey

Now that you are dancing — record yourself! And others! This is it. This is where the magic happens. Without documenting the journey, it is difficult to share and expand the joy. Think of your content as home videos, nothing professional. Snap away!

  • Invite People into the Process

Friends, family, & fools. Invite anyone & everyone. People you are already close with. People you don’t know at all. Talk about it with people in person. Talk about it with people online. Share photos & videos. Message individuals, post in groups. Share with people in the most natural, fun & easiest ways for you! You are giving a gift of joy.

Once you are an official chapter, it’s time to get organized about the marketing

  • Community Phone Number

Encourage your members to send a text to our community phone number: 303-529-2078. This is how we will make special announcements about local opportunities & events. We will work together to determine what we want to share, and when, with the community by text.

  • Community Photo Album

As we document the journey with photos & videos, its important to keep organized by uploading content into a central location (we recommend Google Photos or Dropbox). It will be impossible for you to capture everything, so you will need to share a link with the community & encourage them to upload content. This will be super important because we will share this stuff on social media!

  • Meetup, Instagram & Facebook

We will create an official @dorkdancingcity account for your local chapter on Meetup, Instagram & Facebook (group & page). We understand that social media marketing takes a lot of work, so we will work closely together on this! You will not be alone on social media management.

  • Discord

It’s nice to have a way to chat together as a community. Feel free to create local group chats using Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc if that’s easiest for you. We like Discord because it’s clean & flexible. It will be our preferred group messaging platform as we grow across locations.
